There’s a point where a hobby quietly stops being a phase and becomes part of who you are.

For me, that point was somewhere back in the late 1970s, though I didnt know it then.

I didn’t know it then, of course. There were no grand plans and no sense that this would turn into something that would follow me through decades of change, technology, and life itself. It was just a simple game on a screen, something I could control, something I could play. That was enough.

But it stuck.

What This Blog Is

Gizmo Games is my attempt to look back across nearly 50 years of gaming, starting right at the beginning and working forward one memory at a time.

The plan is simple:

• One post a week
• Moving forward through time
• Covering every game I can remember playing

Some posts will focus on a specific game. Others might cover a system, a genre, or even just a moment that stayed with me. Not everything will be perfectly accurate because memory does not work like that, but everything here is real in the sense that it reflects how I experienced it.

This is not a review site. It is not about scores or rankings.

It is about what it felt like to be there.

A Bit About Me

I have been playing games for as long as I can remember, from the earliest home systems through the rise of consoles and home computers, into the modern world of always online and constantly updating experiences.

Along the way, I have seen gaming grow from something niche and experimental into something massive and mainstream. No matter how much it has changed, the core has always stayed the same.

Something on a screen, reacting to what you do.

That spark is still there.

Why I’m Doing This

Partly, it is nostalgia.

Partly, it is curiosity. How much of this can I actually remember?

Mostly, it is about capturing something that is easy to lose over time. The small details. The first impressions. The half forgotten games that never quite made it into history but still mattered at the time.

Gaming moves fast. New releases, new hardware, new trends.

This is a chance to slow it down.
