TL;DR: Explore a world where Western legends meet demons, arcane rituals and satanic cults and where the dead can walk the Earth again. For a price.. Short verdict: Turn based tactical cowboy combat, with demons and gold mining. Cowboy Xcom! — would I play this instead of tidying the kitchen? [Maybe].

What is it?

Hard West puts you in the saddle of a gritty, supernatural Wild West where bullets, bargains, and the bizarre rule the day. You’ll sniff out danger on every dusty trail, from shootouts to sinister demonic deals, all while trying to stay top dog in a world that bites back. It’s a paw-some mix of tactical combat and dark storytelling that’ll have you howling for just one more turn.

How it Plays

Its X-Com style, turned based combat, with a neat explore the map, find gold, and upgrade equipment and characters. It also features a neat playing card based ability system , to allow quite a lot of character customisation.

• Tactical combat that’s both smart and satisfying.
• Bone-deep atmosphere with a dark, supernatural Wild West vibe.
• Excellent character customisation and upgrade system.

Ruff Spots (Cons)

• RNG (random chance) combat system can sometimes feel unfair… he missed from 2 feet away!
• Some missions can become a bit of a grind for little reward.
• Wild Wild West theme, much like the movie might not appeal to everyone.

Verdict

Fans of westerns and tactical turn based combat should definitely give this a whirl. If those 2 things arent your vibe, you’ll probably be better enjoying something else.
