What is it?

Dungeon Defenders combines tower defense strategy with action-RPG combat, letting you both build defenses and jump into the fray yourself. The premise is simple but addictive: protect your crystal from waves of invading monsters using traps, towers, and your hero’s abilities. Its vibe mixes colorful fantasy with frantic co-op mayhem, rewarding teamwork and creativity. What makes it stand out is the seamless blend of strategy and action, plus an extensive loot system , with upgrade and skill trees for each item of loot, and each character class.

How it Plays

The game mixes tactical planning with hack-and-slash combat: you sniff out the best spots for defenses, then leap into the fray to whittle down monsters yourself. Co-op is where it really shines, with four players combining powers and strategies to keep the waves at bay. The colorful art style and loot-driven progression keep the grind playful, though difficulty spikes can leave solo pups howling.

• Can feel grindy when chasing high-level gear.

• Visual style, while charming, shows its age.

Verdict

Fabulous multiplayer game, with an interesting mix of genres, so much variety in level and creature design, and a vibrant community with lots of additional content. Lots of DLC available to add even more variety, and despite it having a couple of sequels and spin offs, this is still the version to play.
