TL;DR: A paw-sitively gripping plunge into a fallen underwater utopia,still a top dog of storytelling, whether you play the classic or its spruced-up remaster.

BioShock is a first-person shooter with strong narrative and immersive sim elements, set in the underwater city of Rapture, a failed objectivist utopia torn apart by civil war, genetic splicing, and crumbling decadence. The Remastered version keeps the core experience intact while improving visuals, textures, lighting, and adding some developer commentary and bonus content.

How it Plays

You explore Rapture as a silent protagonist, scavenging weapons and “plasmid” powers that let you unleash electricity, fire, and telekinesis alongside your firearms. The atmosphere is dense and haunting: every corridor drips with Art Deco ruin and philosophical overtones. Combat blends shooting with environmental strategy, hacking turrets, setting traps, and creatively combining powers all while the story slowly unravels into one of gaming’s most famous twists. The Remastered version enhances the visuals without altering the gameplay, preserving what made it iconic while making it easier on modern eyes.
